Formula E in Mexico: The qualifying groups at a glance

Tim Neuhaus

The second round of the eleventh Formula E season is coming up! This time, Formula E is a guest in Mexico and is expected to go full power at the famous baseball stadium. Qualifying is scheduled for Saturday afternoon (16:40 CET). Pascal Wehrlein is the record holder when it comes to the fastest qualifying laps in Mexico: he has already started the E-Prix from pole position three times already!

In the time trial, the drivers initially meet in two groups. Those in the odd-numbered championship positions start in Group A, while those in the even-numbered positions compete in Group B. The aim here is to make it into the top 4 of the respective group, as this is the only way to reach the duel phase. There, two drivers compete against each other in the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final and then fight for pole position and the first three championship points of the weekend.
