Finally, it's time to go racing again! Formula E kicks off season 11 with full power and the first qualifying session is finally on the schedule for early Saturday afternoon (1:40 pm CET). So far, Stoffel Vandoorne and Pascal Wehrlein have both secured a pole position in Brazil. In order to make it to the front again, they first have to get through the group stage. In our overview, you can find out which driver has to compete in which group.

In the time trial, the drivers initially meet in two groups. Formula E normally divides the groups for the race according to the current championship standings. However, as Sao Paulo marks the start of the eleventh Formula E season, the teams were allowed to place one driver in Group A and one in Group B. This results in the following groups for qualifying in Sao Paulo on Saturday.

The drivers in the odd-numbered championship positions will start in Group A, the drivers in the odd-numbered positions in Group B. The aim here is to make it into the top four positions in your group, as this is the only way to reach the duel phase. Here, two drivers compete against each other in the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final, fighting for pole position and the first three championship points.
