Formula E in Shanghai: An overview of the qualifying groups for Race 2
Tim Neuhaus
Yesterday, Pascal Wehrlein narrowly beat Mitch Evans in qualifying to take pole position and three points! We can only hope that today will see another thrilling battle between the championship leaders. The chances are good, however, as both Jaguar and Porsche have had a strong weekend in China so far. But Mahindra could also play a part, having had a disastrous qualifying session yesterday despite actually having good pace.
Drivers in the odd-numbered championship positions start in Group A, whilst those in the even-numbered positions start in Group B. The aim here is to finish in the top four positions in the group, as this is the only way to reach the knockout stage. There, two drivers will compete against each other in the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final, battling for pole position and the first three World Championship points of the race day.
