German Formula E driver Maximilian Günther and the DS Penske team have announced that they will be parting ways at the end of the Gen3 era. This means that, at the season finale, Penske Motorsport will be parting ways not only with its partner DS Automobiles – which is withdrawing from the electric championship after eleven seasons – but also with one of its two drivers.

Günther initially served as a reserve driver in Formula E and made his full-time debut in Season 5 with Dragon Racing. This was followed by stints with BMW i Andretti Motorsport, Nissan e.dams and Maserati MSG Racing, before he joined DS Penske – the successor team to Dragon Racing – in Season 11.

Günther thanked his team on X: "Two seasons, many unforgettable moments, race wins, pole positions and challenges that we overcame together. I am very grateful to everyone in the team for their commitment and dedication, but above all for the close relationships that have developed over time. It has been a fantastic chapter in my career. The Gen4 era is just around the corner, and I am very much looking forward to what lies ahead."

It is expected that Günther will remain in Formula E; a media report a few days ago already linked him with Envision Racing. The announcement of which team Günther will race for in the Gen4 era is expected shortly.
