Stoffel Vandoorne will leave the French-US Formula E team DS Penske after the current season. The 2008 world champion made the announcement in a social media post on Thursday afternoon. The team has not yet commented on the Belgian's departure.
"Final race with DS Penske this weekend," announced Vandoorne. "One last push to finish the season on a high and try claim 3rd in the teams championship," was the simple and - at least in this form - surprising statement. Vandoorne joined DS Penske for the 2023 season with high hopes of going on the title hunt together with Jean-Eric Vergne. However, apart from one pole position and one podium in two years, Vandoorne was hardly able to set any highlights.
