Just over a week after the Formula E finale in London, McLaren has announced that Jake Hughes is to leave the team. The team made the announcement via press release on Monday morning. It is currently rumoured that he could be joining another team in the electric series.

"Leaving Neom McLaren will feel very strange in the coming weeks as this team has been my home for the last four and a half years. I owe everything I am in Formula E to this team," says the Briton. Hughes joined the team in the Gen3 era after several years as a reserve and development driver at Mercedes. It was his first regular cockpit in the electric series. He scored several pole positions and a podium finish during the two seasons in papaya.

"I have to thank so many different people in the team for what they have given me, how they have prepared me and enabled me to develop into the racing driver I am today. I wish the team all the best and have no doubt that we will have some good times against each other on the track in the future."
