Porsche has signed Nico Müller as its new works driver. The German manufacturer made the announcement on Wednesday afternoon. As officially announced on Tuesday, the 32-year-old Swiss driver will compete for the Porsche customer team Andretti in the upcoming eleventh Formula E season.

By signing Müller, Porsche aims to broaden its programme in the electric world championship and expand its customer support for Andretti. Müller has been competing in Formula E since the 2019/20 season - with an interruption in the 2021/22 season - and brings a wealth of experience with him. Last season, he achieved his best result to date with 12th place in the Drivers' World Championship in the service of ABT Cupra.

"Being a Porsche works driver is a childhood dream come true for me," says Müller. "When I first came into contact with Porsche, I immediately realised: this is something very special. For racing drivers, Porsche is the brand you look up to. To be able to represent Porsche now is a great honour that fills me with a great deal of pride."

Porsche Head of Motorsport Thomas Laudenbach says: "Nico has proven his skills in various challenging racing series. Among other things, he has won the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring and was runner-up twice in the DTM. We initially expect his expertise in formula racing to provide a lot of important impetus for Porsche's Formula E programme."

In the future, Müller could move up to the Porsche works team if he proves himself with Andretti. Whether and in which other racing series Müller will compete for Porsche Motorsport is currently being planned and will be announced at a later date, says Porsche.
