Pit boost and cost cap: World Motorsport Council approves changes to Formula E regulations

The FIA World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) has approved changes to the Formula E World Championship regulations at its meeting in Kigali (Rwanda). The corresponding adjustments to the fast-charging pit stops and the cost cap for the teams came into force with immediate effect.
The first change concerns the sporting regulations of the racing series: the Attack Charge has now been officially renamed Pit Boost in the regulations. In addition, in races with pit boost pit stops, drivers are no longer allowed to activate attack mode only after quick charging. Instead, activation is permitted from lap 2. It is hoped that this will give the drivers more strategic options during the race.
The second adjustment concerns the cost cap for the Formula E teams: a team is allowed to deduct 100,000 euros from its costs in the annual settlement if the monocoque of the car was damaged in an accident during a race weekend that it had to be replaced in the opinion of the FIA. A team may deduct a maximum of 200,000 euros per reporting period. The aim is to ensure that teams do not exceed the cost cap due to an accident - possibly through no fault of their own - if they have already calculated tightly beforehand.
