World Rallycross Championship adjusts race calendar for 2nd electric season 2023
Svenja König
The WRX World Rallycross Championship on Friday unveiled a revised version of its race calendar for the second all-electric season. The reason for this, he said, was primarily extended transport times for races outside Europe. In order to cushion these logistically, some of the European races were brought forward - including the race in Buxtehude.
.The race in Portugal was brought forward by about two and a half months and is now on the calendar as the season opener on June 3 and 4, 2023. Unchanged then follow the scheduled races in Hell (Norway), Höljes (Sweden), Lydden Hill (Great Britain) and Mettet (Belgium). Due to the new date, the Germany race in Buxtehude slides forward by three weeks to August 19 and 20, 2023.
There will then be a longer break before the races outside Europe begin, which have also been moved forward by two weeks. Accordingly, the weekend in South Africa will now take place on October 7 and 8, while the still undefined race in Asia will be held on November 11 and 12. The changes also affect the race calendar of RX2e, which holds its races as part of the WRX supporting program. The new program has already been approved by the FIA World Motor Sport Council (WMSC)
