Formula E will race in Shanghai for the first time in 2024. At the planned double-header at the end of May, Formula E will use part of the Grand Prix circuit on which Formula 1 has been competing for many years (with the exception of the Covid restrictions). It is likely that the longest straight of the Shanghai International Circuit will be left out.

The Chinese metropolis is already the fourth venue for Formula E in China. Previously, the electric racing series had raced in Beijing (2014 and 2015), Hong Kong (2016 to 2019) and Sanya (2019).
