In its first season, Formula E made a stop in Miami. The street circuit at the southern tip of Florida (USA) included a circuit around the American Airlines Arena, the stadium of the local NBA basketball team Miami Heat. Local hero Scott Speed almost snatched victory on his Formula E debut for the U.S. Andretti racing team, but Nicolas Prost ultimately triumphed. The Miami E-Prix did not make it into the race calendar for the second season, mainly due to logistical difficulties. As a result, the 2015 edition remained the only guest appearance at Biscayne Bay for a long time.
Formula E returned to Miami in 2025, but this time the race was not held in the city itself, but at the Homestead-Miami Speedway, located about 40 km to the south-west. However, the event was not a success, so the racing series will return to the city centre in 2026. Here, it will race on a shortened version of the Formula 1 Miami International Autodrome circuit around Hard Rock Stadium.
