2026 Hankook Berlin E-Prix (2/2)

The German capital Berlin is the only place on the racing calendar that Formula E has visited every year since its first season (2014/15). In 2016, the racing series made a one-off stop in the city center, staging a race on Karl-Marx-Allee near Alexanderplatz. All other editions of the Berlin E-Prix have taken place on the apron of the former Tempelhof Airport.

The airfield played a central role in 1949 as a popular destination airport for the Western Allies during the Berlin Airlift. The historic site in the south of the city gives the course planners great freedom, as the flat apron can be used completely freely. This is probably one of the reasons why adjustments are made to the layout of the so-called "Tempelhof Airport Street Circuit" almost every year.

In 2019, the Greentech Festival, co-organized by former Formula 1 World Champion Nico Rosberg, was held for the first time as part of the Berlin E-Prix. Apart from that, many manufacturers and companies use the spacious exhibition area on the grounds year after year to present their technologies and products related to e-mobility. Until the Corona pandemic, the Berlin E-Prix attracted tens of thousands of spectators each year.

Due to the coronavirus, the sixth Formula E season resumed and concluded in August 2020 with no less than six races within nine days at the disused airport site in Berlin-Tempelhof after an interruption of several months. All races took place without spectators due to the applicable restrictions. In August 2021, Formula E held its season finale as a "double-header" in Berlin, with spectators again permitted, albeit in limited numbers.

In 2023, the Berlin E-Prix took place on 22 and 23 April - again with two race days and a subsequent rookie test. Formula E still used the same track layout for both races in season 9, but competed on a significantly different track from 2024. Once again, a rookie test took place on the Monday after the race weekend.

In 2025, the race took place in July for the first time in its history, and once again the rookie test was held here on the following Monday. In 2026, it is scheduled to take place on 2 and 3 May.
