The ATEC-02 is the first Formula E car built by Andretti Technologies in the USA. After the traditional team had actually homologated its drivetrain with the FIA before season two, it decided to rely on the proven technology from season one for another year due to software problems during the pre-season tests in Donington. With the start of season three, Andretti presented the ATEC-02, a direct development of the car planned for the previous season. Like Mahindra and Dragon, Andretti relies on a motor and inverter from Magneti Marelli, while the control electronics come from TE Connectivity.
