New York City moved into the racing calendar for the third Formula E season. The E-Prix took place in July 2017 as a "double-header" in Red Hook, Brooklyn's harbor. In the immediate background stretches Manhattan's financial center, Wall Street and one of the city's landmarks - the Statue of Liberty.
New York City also hosted "double headers" in 2018, 2019 and 2021. In 2022, the two races are scheduled to be held on July 16 and 17.
Formula E is the first FIA racing series that has managed to race in one of New York's boroughs. Bernie Ecclestone famously tried for decades to stage a Formula One race in the haze of the "Big Apple" - without success.
