For the first two years, the second round of the Formula E season was held in Putrajaya (pronounced: Putradshaya). The planned city in the south of Kuala Lumpur was only founded in 1995 and serves as the new administrative center of the Federation of Malaysia. One of the architectural highlights is the Putra Mosque: at 116 meters, the mosque's minaret is the second tallest in Southeast Asia. Due to the late afternoon rain showers typical of Malaysia, the Putrajaya E-Prix was brought forward by two hours in both the first and second seasons. In this way, Formula E wanted to prevent a potential race cancellation. As a result, there was only one combined practice session lasting 75 minutes.
