TV & livestream overview

Kangerlussuaq in Greenland was the first location unveiled by Extreme E 2019 officials. Just over two years later, the first race finally took place near the Russell Glacier - the third round of the debut season in 2021.

With the Arctic X Prix, Extreme E aims to draw attention to melting ice in the Arctic as well as rising sea levels around the world.

The race was held in Greenland.

Greenland is the largest island in the world that is not counted as a separate continent. Just under 50,000 people call it home. The capital Nuuk is considered the northernmost capital in the world. The Extreme E race location is 26 kilometers from Kangerlussuaq - a settlement with 500 inhabitants:inside today.

Kangerlussuaq grew out of a U.S. military base in the 1940s and therefore has harbor and one of two international airports in Greenland. The settlement - some 300 kilometers from Nuuk - is a major hub for goods shipments and tourism, upon which much of Greenland's economy is built.
