Formula E raced in Shanghai for the first time in 2024. At the double-header at the end of May, the racing series used part of the Grand Prix circuit on which Formula 1 has been racing for many years (with the exception of the Covid restrictions).


The Chinese metropolis was the fourth venue for Formula E in China. The electric racing series had previously raced in Beijing (2014 and 2015), Hong Kong (2016 to 2019) and Sanya (2019).
