Long Beach

Long Beach is a large city in its own right not far from Los Angeles and has a long motorsport tradition. Every year, the U.S. IndyCar Series makes a guest appearance on the legendary street circuit around the Convention & Entertainment Center. With around 300,000 visitors on race weekends, the event is the largest automobile road race in the United States. Formula 1 also made a guest appearance on the California coast between 1976 and 1983. Formula E races on a shortened version of the Grand Prix circuit that does without the section of track to the west. The first Long Beach E-Prix in 2015 was won by Nelson Piquet Jr. - exactly 35 years after his father Nelson Piquet took his first Formula 1 victory at the same venue.
