Taylor Barnard made his Formula E test debut for McLaren at the pre-season tests in Valencia in October 2023. The Briton, who grew up in Norwich, finished runner-up in the German Formula 4 in 2022, competed in Formula 3 in 2023 and in Formula 2 in 2024.
At the 2024 Monaco E-Prix, he stood in at short notice for the injured Sam Bird at McLaren, whom he also replaced at the following Berlin E-Prix. He scored points in both races, making him not only the youngest Formula E driver of all time, but also the youngest points finisher.
He was given a regular cockpit with the Woking-based team for the 2024/25 season. He made an immediate impression, finishing fourth in the world championship with six podium finishes at the end of the season. After McLaren withdrew from Formula E, he moved to DS Penske, where he became Max Günther's teammate.
