Jann Mardenborough made the leap from simracing to real motorsport in 2011 thanks to the Nissan GT Academy. Since then, he has competed in Formula 3 European Championship, GP3, Super Formula, Super GT and WEC races, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In Formula E, Mardenborough first drove for Virgin at the 2014 pre-season test, and since 2018 he has supported Nissan e.dams as an official simulator driver.
The story of Mardenborough was made into the film "Gran Turismo" in 2023.
