Mikel Azcona competed for Nio 333 during the 2023 Formula E rookie test in Berlin. The Spaniard had already gained some experience in electric motorsport beforehand in the FIA ETCR - albeit in touring cars. In 2022, he crowned himself WTCR champion and won the TCR category at the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring. He was able to repeat this success in 2023.
