The British entrepreneur Richard Branson is the founder of the Virgin company and thus also the owner of the Virgin Racing team. During the 2017 New York City E-Prix, he was named as the official reserve driver by the team as part of a marketing campaign. His team also awarded him the role of reserve driver for the 2017/18 season. However, it is doubtful whether Branson would actually have been used in an emergency.
