Tom Blomqvist - son of former World Rally Champion Stig Blomqvist - battled his way through Europe's Formula 3 series with great success in the early 2010s after winning the British Formula Renault Championship. After winning the runner-up European championship in 2014, he joined the DTM as a BMW works driver, where he celebrated one victory.

In the 2017/18 season, Blomqvist moved to Formula E. He competed in a few races for the Andretti team in the electric series, but was replaced by Stephane Sarrazin before the end of the season. At the season finale of the 2019/20 season in Berlin, he replaced James Calado at Jaguar after a long Formula E break, whereupon he was again given a regular cockpit for the seventh season and started for Nio 333. He then moved to IMSA's sports car category and took on the role of reserve driver at Envision. Today, he races in the IndyCar championship.
