Michael Benyahia got his first opportunity to drive a Formula E car at the 2016 Marrakesh ePrix. He completed a first demo run in front of a home crowd. In the fall of 2017, the Moroccan was announced as an official replacement driver at Venturi. Benyahia made his debut in an official Formula E session at the Valencia test in early October 2017.
