In 1995, Jacques Villeneuve won the championship title in the US IndyCar series. Between 1996 and 2006, he then competed in Formula 1, where he became world champion with Williams in 1997. In 2014, Villeneuve made a one-off guest appearance in IndyCar.
In Formula E, he only competed in two races at the start of the second season. In the service of Venturi, he scored a 14th and an eleventh place. At the 2015 Punta del Este E-Prix, Villeneuve had an accident during practice and was unable to take part in the race. Subsequently, he left the electric series again surprisingly and without explanation.
