Indian-Swiss Neel Jani is adorned with successes in Formula E like hardly any other driver. Although his path to Formula 1 ended with a place as a reserve driver at Toro Rosso in 2006, Jani crowned himself the very next year with a title in the A1GP series. He later celebrated the WEC World Championship and overall victory at Le Mans in 2016 as a Porsche works driver. Jani competed in Formula E for the first time at the 2017/18 season opener. He drove for Dragon Racing for two races at the Hong Kong E-Prix, but subsequently left the team and the series again - for lack of prospects of sporting success. At the end of 2018, Porsche confirmed him as its first regular driver for the 2019/20 season - the Swabian company's debut year in Formula E.

Jani again failed to impress in the electric racing series, however, so Porsche replaced him with Pascal Wehrlein after the end of the season. Jani, however, remained with the team for another two years as a test and reserve driver. He then moved to Audi's Formula 1 project as a development driver.
