In his early career, Italian Andrea Caldarelli raced in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup, Formula 3 Euroseries, GP2 Asia and GP3 before moving to Japanese Super Formula. In 2008 and 2010, he tested for Toyota and Ferrari in Formula 1, and later raced in Super GT, the 24 Hours of Daytona and as a Lamborghini factory driver in the Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe.
In Formula E, he participated in the 2018 rookie test for Dragon. Caldarelli is the brother-in-law of former Formula E driver Vitantonio Liuzzi.
