The British-Thai racing driver Alexander "Alex" Albon became European karting champion in 2010. He later raced successfully in the Formula 3 European Championship and GP3 before making his FIA Formula 2 debut in 2017.

Before the 2018/19 Formula E season, he was signed by Nissan e.dams. However, Albon left the team again during pre-season testing to begin contract negotiations with Formula One team Toro Rosso.

The then 22-year-old did indeed move to the "premier class" and was even promoted to top team Red Bull in 2019, but lost his cockpit again after just a year and a half. After a season in the DTM, he joined Williams F1 in 2022.
