Mercedes entered Formula E for the sixth season not only with its own works team, but also as an enrolled manufacturer. For the 2019/20 season, Mercedes developed their first all-electric powertrain for racing with its subsidiary Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains in Brixworth.

In addition to the factory team, Venturi has also been competing as a customer team with Mercedes powertrains since season 6. After the 2022 season, however, it was already over for the group from Stuttgart: In August 2021, Mercedes announced their Formula E exit as a team and manufacturer for the end of the Gen2 era and has no longer been competing since the end of 2022.
