Citroen Racing reveals Gen4 design and names Beth Paretta as new Formula E Team Principal

Citroen Racing has become the first Formula E team to unveil its final livery for the first Gen4 season, while also reshaping the leadership of its Formula E programme. Beth Paretta takes over as Team Principal, while Fred Espinos joins Citroen from Lola Yamaha ABT as Deputy Team Principal and Race Director.

Blue and red switch places

The basic concept of the livery remains unchanged compared with last season. The design once again reflects the French tricolour in a clear three-part layout. The biggest difference is the reversed colour distribution: the front is now blue instead of red, while the rear is red instead of blue. Citroen has deliberately increased the amount of blue, particularly around the nose. According to the manufacturer, this should make the Gen4 car easier to recognise in the field.

However, the new Gen4 chassis means the design can only be compared with last year's car to a limited extent. The white central section is significantly larger and clearly reflects the shape of the Citroen logo. Weight also played a role in the livery design. The parametric double-chevron pattern is intended to create colour gradients without requiring additional layers of material. So far, TotalEnergies is the only sponsor prominently visible on the car. Citroen only recently announced a partnership with the energy company.

New Team Principal and Deputy

The Monaco-based team had to cope with the unexpected death of its then Team Principal Cyril Blais last season. Beth Paretta has now officially been named as his successor. She served as Managing Director of the team last season.

Paretta also knows Formula E from the championship side. Before joining Citroen, she was Vice President of Sporting at Formula E. She has set ambitious targets for the start of the Gen4 era: "Our goal is to demonstrate our competitiveness from the outset through strong performances on track."

Fred Espinos will take on the role of Deputy Team Principal at Citroen Racing. The Frenchman joins from Lola Yamaha ABT and has been part of the Formula E environment since the early years of the championship. After spells with the FIA and Formula E, he joined the Kempten-based team in 2022 and worked his way up to the role of Deputy Team Principal.

Espinos wants to bring his Formula E experience into the new operation: "I am very much looking forward to bringing my Formula E experience to this team and working with Beth and the whole organisation. There is still a lot of work ahead of us, but the goal is clear: we want to be ready from the very start of the season."
