FIA publishes Formula E entry list & confirms Beckmann & Ticktum as driver line-up for Kiro

Tobias Wirtz

A little more than a week before the start of the season, the FIA has published the list of participants for the 2024/25 Formula E World Championship. This also means that it is now clear who will take the two cockpits at Kiro Race Co, although the team has still not confirmed a line-up: As expected, Dan Ticktum and David Beckmann will contest the eleventh season, having already sat in the cockpit during pre-season testing in Madrid.

It is the confirmation of what many Formula E fans have expected: 24-year-old Beckmann has been given a second chance to prove himself in the electric racing series after his debut at the 2023 Jakarta E-Prix, when he stood in for Andre Lotterer at Andretti. After a good test performance in Madrid, Beckmann's chances had risen - reports of a commitment increased. To date, Kiro has not responded in any way to an enquiry from e-Formula.news on Monday.

For Dan Ticktum, it will be his fourth season in Formula E and for the team, which was initially called Nio 333 Racing, then ERT and now - following a change of ownership - Kiro Race Co. Ticktum's best result in his 48 races to date was fourth place at the Misano E-Prix 2024. His former team-mate Sergio Sette Camara has to make way for Beckmann.

With the Porsche customer motors that the team was able to get hold of for the new season, a big step forward seems possible: Even though the hardware is largely the same as in the two previous seasons, both drivers were able to impress with fast lap times during pre-season testing in Madrid. Ticktum was second fastest in the test week classification, while his new team-mate Beckmann finished in 4th place.

The 2024/25 Formula E season kicks off on 7 December in Sao Paulo (Brazil). As usual, we will be covering the race weekend with news, session reports and statistics. We will also be back with our popular Formula E live ticker for every session - from now an also in English!

Comment from Timo Pape: This wouldn't happen in Formula 1

The first free practice session of the new season takes place a week from today. However, one of the eleven teams has not yet said a word about its drivers: Kiro. The fact that the public is finding out about the line-up for the 2024/25 season through an official FIA list is quite bizarre, embarrassing and unlikely to please the team's new US owners. It is difficult to understand why Kiro is still keeping quiet despite various reports and the FIA confirmation on Thursday.

It's quite possible that the contract negotiations with the drivers are dragging on. Nevertheless, Kiro should have a communication strategy. There was a similarly weird situation with another team at the pre-season test in Madrid: Maserati MSG Racing presented its new livery, which the team had already used for four sessions on the track, during the lunch break after two and a half days of testing.

Formula E is an official FIA World Championship and is now in its eleventh season, but makes a fool of itself time and again with such events. Just imagine if something like this happened in Formula 1.
