Miami E-Prix: XXL preview of the Formula E race in the coastal city of Florida

FIA Formel E
This weekend, the Formula E World Championship will return to the coastal city of Miami in Florida for the third time. This year, a variant of the Formula 1 circuit Miami International Autodrome around the Miami Dolphins football stadium will be the "playing field" for the third race of the 2025/26 season. Miami will also host the rookie practice in Formula E season 12.
Where exactly will the Formula E race take place?
Miami is located in the south-east of the United States of America. Located directly on the Atlantic Ocean, the city is considered "Latin America's capital in the USA" as more than two thirds of the population are Spanish-speaking, which is reflected in its culture and cityscape. Miami is the second largest city in Florida, but the city has even more to offer. Just 45 minutes from the city centre is the Everglades, one of the largest wetlands in the world, home to alligators, mangroves and airboats.
Thanks to its combination of modernity, future-orientation and closeness to nature, Miami fits perfectly with the sustainable concept of the all-electric racing series and reflects the idea of open and future-oriented motorsport.
Fast Stats: Miami E-Prix
- The Miami International Autodrome is the sixth circuit Formula E will race on in the USA and the third in Miami - both records.

- Germany (third in 2015 with Daniel Abt and first in 2025 with Pascal Wehrlein) is the only nation to have had a driver on the podium in both races.

What makes the track in Miami so special?
The circuit at the Miami International Autodrome promises to be a highlight on the Formula E calendar - a race under palm trees. The tropical climate in the coastal city of Florida presents both man and machine with challenges and ensures excitement.
The track is 2.23 kilometres long and has 14 bends. Parts of the circuit are also known from the Miami Grand Prix of the Formula 1 World Championship.

In which order do the drivers start qualifying?
In Formula E, qualifying takes place in two stages: Group phase and Duel phase. For group qualifying, the driver field is initially divided into two halves, with all drivers in the odd-numbered championship positions (positions 1, 3, 5, 7, etc.) competing in Group A and the drivers in the even-numbered positions in Group B.
The four drivers with the fastest lap times in their group after ten minutes will then progress to the quarter-finals, where they will duel for the best grid positions. This results in the following groups for the race in Mexico City
Weather forecast: Light rain in Miami?
The forecast makes for disappointing reading. While the days leading up to the E-Prix will be warm and summery, conditions on Friday are expected to be significantly worse than at the start of the year in Mexico City, with 19 degrees and light rain. According to the weather forecast, there is also a threat of rain for the Saturday of the race in Miami. The forecasts suggest an exciting race with an unpredictable outcome.
Who are the favourites?
In the second race of the twelfth Formula E season in Mexico City, Nick Cassidy showed Citroen's dominance and took the lead in the championship. He goes into the race in Miami as the favourite. However, reigning world champion Oliver Rowland (Nissan) from Great Britain and his compatriot Jake Dennis (Andretti) are also travelling to Miami with a chance of victory. They all bring the perfect overall package to the Florida coastal city.
However, all eyes will continue to be on Pascal Wehrlein and the Porsche team. After all, they were already able to prove in season 11 that Miami suits them exceptionally well, as they even finished on the podium with both cars. However, this year's track is hardly comparable to Homestead-Miami Speedway, where the drivers went on the hunt for points last year.
It is extremely important for all drivers to score good points in the race in Miami in order to improve their positions in the championship standings. Who will end up on top of the podium in Miami, however, remains to be seen.
