Results & lap times

In addition to Mini, Güven and Maini also impressed in the top 3. 16 of the 22 drivers were within one second of each other at the end. This is also where the gender boundary runs through the time table: none of the participating women came closer than one second to the best time. This statement also applies to Weiß and Hoggard.

That's it - time is up! It's official: Gabriele Mini and Nissan win the Rookie Test 2025!

Now it's just Barter. Nothing will burn anymore.

Some rookies improve in individual sectors, but in the end it's not enough to improve their time. Beganovic is the only one to gain a few places. He is now 14th!

Zak O'Sullivan makes it up to 14th place with a 0:58.410.

Now in the last 10 minutes, the track is getting fuller again. The likelihood of us seeing any big jumps in position is low.

Bianca Bustamante and Barter can improve, but it's not enough to win a place.

Daniil Kvyat can improve again. He is now in 9th place. Dino Beganovic also finally makes it from the back of the field. The Mahindra rookie is now fifteenth.

Just over 20 minutes to go. There are few riders on the course at the moment, but Beganovic and Bustamante are among those with the potential to improve.

Barter was able to improve, but it was not enough to overtake Crawford for 6th place. The Lola driver is a single thousandth of a second off the pace!

Kush Maini makes a huge leap! He positions himself in third place with a 0:57.789! This confirms his great performance from the morning.

It's very quiet on the track. Voisin, Crawford, Lloyd, Pourchaire and Maini are the only drivers on the track. None of them are on course for improvement.

With 45 minutes to go, we have the following top 5: Gabriele Mini, Güven, Voisin, Dunne and Crawford. Nikita Bedrin can now move up to 8th place.

It's getting fuller on the track - 12 cars are now driving around the circuit.

Zak O'Sullivan improved in the first sector, but the other two sectors were too slow. He remains in 15th place.

And Mini shaves another thousandth of a second off the track record - 57.428 seconds!

A thriller by a thousandth of a second, as our highly esteemed colleague Daniel Goggi from ServusTV / DF1 would now say!

The track is empty again, only Gabriele Mini is currently driving. And how: Absolute best time in sector 1!

We have an improvement: Hugh Barter jumps up to 6th place and displaces Frederik Vesti in the Andretti Porsche. The team's two regular drivers, Lucas di Grassi and Zane Maloney, were not that fast all weekend. But the conditions today are also much better.

Against this background, the lap time of 57.654 minutes that he has already set in this session is really strong. On the other hand, we know that he can drive - he has won the DTM this season, and Güven has also won the legendary 12-hour race in Bathurst!

His team-mate Ayhancan Güven is still in second place. The Turk is driving a formula car for the very first time, as he revealed to us this lunchtime. We had to smile a little when he reported informing his race engineer about a supposed defect in his racing helmet because so much air was leaking through it. Of course, he is not familiar with this from the GT and Cup cars he normally drives.

Let's take a look at the only German driver: Elia Weiß, who turned 16 a few weeks ago, is currently in 14th place in the number 13 Porsche. He is 1.244 seconds off Mini's best time - not bad at all for the fact that he is currently competing in his first ever Formula 4 car season.

A look at the weather: it's really warm in Berlin! After last weekend, when rain and cool temperatures prevailed, we haven't really experienced that at all.

27 degrees air temperature and 37 degrees track temperature are much better conditions than we had at the weekend.

But we haven't seen any time improvements so far. None of the drivers seem to be on a 350-kW lap.

It's slowly getting fuller on the track again - six cars go out one after the other.

However, both are currently setting significantly slower lap times, so we are not seeing any new best times at the moment.

We can tell you that here, because there's even less going on on the track now. Only Alex Dunne and Dino Beganovic are currently on the track. The Mahindra rider has now at least beaten the lap time of his team-mate Kush Maini and is in 21st place.

The second driver at DS Penske today is also Russian: Daniil Kvyat. However, the former Red Bull and Toro Rosso driver in Formula 1 is competing as a stateless driver.

The reason: the use of the Russian flag and nationality has been banned by the FIA since March 2022 due to the war of aggression in Ukraine. Drivers who have no other nationality must therefore compete as "neutral drivers" without nationality.

Bedrin is improving - the Russian, who is driving with an Italian licence today, is now tied with Arthur Leclerc in 20th place.

It's very quiet on the track at the moment. Only five cars are driving: Voision, Lloyd, O'Sullivan, Bustamante and Bedrin. All the other drivers are in the pits.

Not much has changed in the last few minutes. The top 10 has remained unchanged.

Mahindra suspected a problem with Beganovic's car, so a number of checks were carried out there. However, this did not prove to be the case and Beganovic has since been back on the track. In the meantime, however, he has returned to the pits.

In the meantime, we will go to the paddock and ask Mahindra what exactly is going on there. Not much is happening on the track at the moment in terms of improvements.

Crawford moves up to fifth place, Vesti is also faster than Barter's lap.

The new order: Mini ahead of Güven and Voisin, followed by Dunne and Barter.

Callum Voisin meanwhile improves to third place in the Cupra Kiro!

There seems to be a problem with Dino Beganovic and Mahindra. He hasn't been on the track in 50 minutes!

Gabriele Mini drives an incredible lap! The Nissan driver drives extremely well today. Once again, he sets a new track record, beating his own time by two tenths! Nobody drove faster than 0:57.439 in Berlin!

Ayhancan Güven can finish in 5th place. The actual DTM driver is driving a single-seater for the first time today - a strong performance from him. Abbi Pulling now displaces him from 5th place, she is once again the fastest woman in the field! Now Hugh Barter sets a terrific time in the Lola Yamaha Abt! He is the new runner-up.

Jak Crawford can move up to 3rd place! A really fast Lloyd from McLaren was there before!

It's very quiet on the track at the moment. The front places remain unchanged. Elia Weiss makes the biggest leap. The 16-year-old in Porsche service improves to 8th place!

Some riders are now pushing forward. Zak O'Sullivan is the new runner-up and Theo Pourchaire is fourth. However, more could have been possible for the Maserati driver, who was the fastest in the first sector so far. Chadwick and Lloyd move up to 6th and 7th place! New best time for Dunne! He sets a 0:57.968 and is two tenths faster than Mini.

The field of riders has now organised itself somewhat. However, the two very strong Mahindra riders, Kush Maini and Dino Beganovic, have not yet set a lap time. Sensationally, however, Abbi Pulling is currently in fourth place! The young British rider is suffering from a cold.

Gabriel Mini is now topping the times again. He starts with a 0:58.185!

The first times are trickling in. Leonardo Fornaroli is currently the fastest driver. His 0:58.737 is already significantly faster than his time from the morning session, where he was only last.

GREEN FLAG! The second stage of the rookie test begins! Now the rookies get another three hours on the track.

With that, we bid you a brief farewell to the afternoon session at 2 pm (CEST)

.

Pourchaire, Beganovic, Leclerc, Bedrin, Kvyat, Dunne and Güven also made it into the top ten drivers. Abbi Pulling not only sets a strong lap with her 0:58:947, but is also the fastest woman of the morning.

Gabriel Mini remains the fastest driver of the morning! The Nissan Junior has already impressed with a new track record. Maini is second and Crawford third,

Now all the drivers have completed the lap faster than a minute! Bianca Bustamante pushes Fornaroli into last place with a solid lap. Further shifts in the final minute are not to be expected.

Jak Crawford drives his Andretti into the Top 3! The American is only two tenths slower than the fastest time. 10 minutes to go until the first session of the day is over.

Abbi Pulling is currently the best rider in 16th place, with a time just under one and a half seconds slower than the fastest time. Directly behind her is Chadwick and Lloyd in 19th place. Bustamante remains last in the Cupra Kiro.

The fastest five rookies are Mini, Maini, Pourchaire, Beganovic and Arthur Leclerc! They are followed by both DS Penske. Crawford, Dunne and Güven complete the top ten.

Green flag! There were probably stones on the track, but it's unclear where they came from and why. But they are gone now.

The session will continue in two minutes. When we have the information about what happened, you'll know.

RED FLAG! The session has been interrupted - there must have been an incident. What happened is not yet known!

The potential of the rookies would be even faster than Mini's track record. If you combine Maini's fastest two sectors with Mini's last sector, you get a 0:57.461! This time would be almost two tenths faster than the current best time.

Arthur Leclerc, the brother of Ferrari Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc, has improved significantly. The Monegasque is now fourth, but still half a second slower than Mini.

Of course, the rookies also benefit from the better track conditions. Today is sunny, completely dry and slightly warmer than yesterday. In contrast, the best time of the regular drivers was set on a slightly damp track in qualifying.

Kush Maini is now even faster! He has the upper hand in the first sector, but loses time in the second and third sectors. He is able to reduce the gap to a minimal 16 thousandths. So Maini is also faster than any regular driver this weekend!

Nikita Bedrin is now another four tenths faster than his DS Penske team-mate. Bedrin is the new third!

Daniil Kvyat has made the biggest and actually the only leap in the last few minutes. The former Formula 1 driver is currently fourth, just under six tenths behind Mini.

There were hardly any shifts in the driver line-up over the last few laps. At the moment, Mini continues to lead the rookie test. Kush Maini is second, followed by Pourchaire, Crawford and Dunne. Bianca Bustamante is not yet particularly fast. The Kiro rider is last and a whole second slower than 21st place!

Kush Maini tries to counter Mini. He was also able to improve and managed a 0:57.999. However, the Mahindra junior is still three and a half tenths slower than Mini!

Gabriel Mini improves again! This is the track record for the young Nissan driver! His 0:57.643 is faster than the best times of the regular drivers and the fastest time ever in Berlin!

The rookie test is the best way for young drivers to make the step into Formula E. In recent years, the teams have repeatedly made drivers who have impressed here into regular drivers. Not least Nick Cassidy was used in rookie sessions before his permanent place in the electric racing series.
Here you can find more drivers who have made it: These rookie test participants made it to regular driver in Formula E

Theo Pourchaire can take a big step forward. The former Formula 2 champion improves to fifth place, but is seven tenths too slow for the fastest time.

It's quiet on the track at the moment. Only four riders are currently on the circuit. More than half of the riders have now also broken the under-one-minute mark.

Gabriel Mini counters immediately! His 0:57.770 is a shout-out time! The current lap record is 0:57.756 by Pascal Wehrlein! In the final qualifying session yesterday, this time would have been enough for pole position.

Kush Maini regains the lead! The Mahindra driver is with his 0:58.167 one tenth faster than Mini! Meanwhile, Nikita Bedrin from DS Penske also managed to be faster than a minute. Abbi Pulling is now in 4th place! She drives a 0:58.947!

Five drivers are now faster than one minute per lap. McLaren junior Dunne is currently driving a very successful Formula 2 programme. He is currently second, just nine thousandths behind Mini! Leonardo Fornaroli also managed to be faster than a minute in Evan's winning Jaguar. The reigning Formula 3 champion is currently fifth! Ella Lloyd has now done it too! She is now the new fourth-placed driver!

There are also four women competing in the rookie test. Abbi Pulling, the reigning F1 Academy champion, will start with Nissan. Jamie Chadwick is driving with Jaguar again. Development driver Bianca Bustamante, who only signed up in Jakarta, will start for Cupra Kiro. Ella Lloyd, who replaced Bustamante in the F1 Academy at McLaren, will also start here in Berlin with McLaren. The fastest driver so far is clearly Pulling! The Brit is currently sixth!

Mini catches Beganovic! The Frenchman is the third to set a lap time under one minute. Theo Pourchaire, who was recently signed by Stellantis as a junior, is very close with his 1:00.067 with Maserati! Now he even beats Maini! Mini's 58.290 was very good!

Kvyat, Crawford and Mini now occupy positions 3 to 5 behind the Mahindra drivers. The fastest of them was Gabriel Mini from Nissan. His 1:00.360 is still two seconds slower than the fastest time.

Most of the regular drivers have already left. However, Zane Maloney, who failed to score points in both Berlin races, is supporting the Lola rookies on site today!

Mahindra may choose a much more aggressive strategy than the other teams. They are still the only two with lap times under a minute! Hugh Barter, currently third, is the closest with his Lola Yamaha Abbot car.

Maini is getting off to a very good start. He is consistently faster than the rest and is setting lap times of 58. Dino Beganovic, also from Mahindra, is now setting the second-best time. Both are currently driving in Formula 2.

Kush Maini is really fast! The Indian in Mahindra service is currently one second faster than the rest. His 0:59.958 is the new best time!

Only nine drivers were able to set a lap time. Most of them went straight back into the pit lane after their outlap.

The first notable time is set by Zak O'Sullivan with a 1:05.483 for Envision. However, Chadwick and Maini quickly displace him from the top. The new best time is set by the Mahindra rider - a 1:00.368!

There are many drivers who we are not seeing for the first time in Formula E. Daniil Kvyat, Jamie Chadwick and Kush Maini, for example, have already driven test sessions in a Formula E car!

The rookie test is green! The young drivers take to the track!

Welcome to the live ticker! The last day of action in Tempelhof is coming up. The rookies will be testing today. The sessions are scheduled from 9am to 12pm (CEST) and 2pm to 5pm (CEST). So the action starts in 5 minutes!
