Formula E Live Ticker
On December 6 and 7, we will be providing live coverage of the start of the new Formula E season in Sao Paulo. You can find all the information about the event here in advance:
We all need to recover from this race. I bid you farewell! Based on the season opener in Sao Paulo, we can only guess what awaits us. You will be spoilt with Formula E content in the coming weeks, even without a race. This race alone will throw up many topics to discuss. But for now, let's get an overview of the results!
Behind Barnard, Bird, Mortara, Nato, De Vries, Buemi, Ticktum and Vergne complete the top 10, with only 14 of the 22 drivers crossing the finish line.
That was probably one of the most chaotic races ever held in motorsport! Mitch Evans wins, with Da Costa second and Taylor Barnard third. The young Briton had more than enough energy to attack, but probably lacked the experience in the end. Nevertheless, a podium finish on his debut as a regular driver is fantastic!
MITCH EVANS WINS! FROM LAST PLACE TO VICTORY! unbelievable!
LAST ROUND! Barnard can theoretically drive at full power, but doesn't attack!
Two laps to go! Da Costa attacks Evans and the McLaren drivers are waiting for their chance!
Taylor Barnard in 4th place has 5% more energy than Evans and Da Costa in front of him!
The order remains the same for the time being. Four laps will be added, the four extra laps will run from now on!
GREEN FLAG! The race has started again!
Now I can see it very clearly. Evans starts from the front, followed by Da Costa, Barnard, Bird and Mortara. There's a rolling start this time, the drivers now start behind the safety car!
I was fooled again! Bird's pit radio was wrong and I was right! Barnard will start from 3rd place and Bird from 4th, but luckily we're about to find out if that's really the case. The red flag is about to be cancelled.
I have to correct myself! Taylor Barnard starts from 4th place and Sam Bird from 5th. Nick Cassidy also gets back in the car!
Taylor Barnard has a really good chance of winning today. It would be a sensation! The young Brit has more energy than anyone else and will start in third place.
30 of 35 laps have now been completed. Nick Cassidy and Pascal Wehrlein are no longer on the grid. Maximilian Günther will start the restart from the back of the grid due to repairs to his car. But he can drive!
The accident was caused by the collision between Günther and Cassidy. During the manoeuvre, Nick Cassidy broke his steering and then had no choice but to also clear Wehrlein.
Nick Cassidy is the reason for Wehrlein's rollover! A huge collision, Wehrlein slides many metres on his back.
There are currently 3 cars in the top 6 that have already had to serve a drive-through penalty. Attack mode is stronger than ever, possibly too strong? PASCAL WEHRLEIN IS OK!
Pascal Wehrlein's car is on its back and Günther is in the wall one bend ahead. This could have been caused by Cassidy, who at least pushed Günther into the wall and then had a duel with Wehrlein. The TV images did not yet show anything else.
Da Costa grabs Nick Cassidy and is now chasing Mitch Evans! A PORSCHE OVERTAKES! RED FLAG!
Mitch Evans overtakes Nick Cassidy! From 22nd on the grid to first place - incredible!
Nick Cassidy can no longer catch Rowland ROWLAND GETS A DRIVING PENALTY! Jaguar is now in 1st and 2nd place!
Nick Cassidy is now in 2nd place! The remaining drivers in attack mode are keeping each other in midfield!
Rowland is currently leading the field, but will almost certainly receive a penalty. Meanwhile, Cassidy moves up to 3rd place! Günther is the next to catch him!
Both McLaren cars are now also in attack mode. Now Rowland is also under investigation!
Taylor Barnard and Sam Bird have a huge energy surplus, but are in 14th and 15th place! Cassidy uses attack mode!
ROWLAND TAKES THE LEAD! Günther also overtakes Da Costa. The two Porsches follow behind.
GREEN FLAG! The Sao Paulo E-Prix is open again!
There's a standing start! Da Costa starts from pole, followed by Rowland, Wehrlein, Günther and Mortara.
The field rolls back onto the track, but still behind the safety car!
Buemi was just told on the radio which riders were still in attack mode. His answer did not make it into the broadcast, everything had to be censored.
The drivers are now allowed to line up behind the safety car. At the same time, there is a new investigation against Norman Nato. It is about an offence during the red flag.
The race will be reopened in five minutes. There are 10 laps left on the clock.
As an interim conclusion, it is fair to say that attack mode is now crucial again. With attack mode activated, drivers can work their way through the entire field in just two laps. It is so powerful that drivers without attack mode currently look completely powerless in the further course of the Sao Paulo E-Prix.
The unlucky ones on the red flag were Rowland and Jean-Eric-Vergne. Both were unable to use their newly activated attack mode due to the red flag. As the race has developed so far, both will now only drop further back. Jaguar is in the best position, both drivers still have attack mode open.
Antonio Felix Da Costa will lead the race as the intermediate standings are restored from one lap before the red flag.
The red flag was waved on lap 21, with 31 laps to be driven.
For Jake Dennis it is the second retirement in a row, after he had previously finished 25 times in a row.
Meanwhile, there are two new investigations by race control. Maloney is being investigated for energy overuse and Dan Ticktum and Vandoorne for a collision between the two.
The reason for the red flag is Jake Dennis' car, which sends out a red signal to indicate that it is unsafe and cannot simply be pushed away.
Jake Dennis is in the first corner! Apparently he can't go any further. Shortly before the yellow flag in turn 1, Rowland is able to pass Wehrlein! NOW IT'S RED!
At the front, the two Porsches duel for first and second place, but the Portuguese has a minute longer in attack mode and overtakes!
Pascal Wehrlein activates attack mode and is now within one lap of Oliver Rowland and leads the race!
Rowland's attack mode has now expired again. He can continue to lead the race with confidence and has an energy surplus of 2% over Cassidy in second place!
Zane Maloney is currently the best rookie! He has driven up to 6th place.
Oliver Rowland activates attack mode! Now it's getting exciting!
Oliver Rowland, meanwhile, is leading the race. However, he still has to complete both attack modes. This could be a huge problem for him, as all Nissan cars have received a penalty for energy overuse after attack mode!
Both Jaguars are now in the top 5! Nick Cassidy is in 2nd place and Mitch Evans in 4th place!
PENALTY CHAOS AT NISSAN! Both McLaren and Nato have to serve a drive-through penalty. Only Rowland has no penalty, but he is also the only one not through attack mode!
The field rotates without a break. Now both Porsches are also driving in attack mode!
Lucas Di Grassi had to park his car. He looks anything but happy during a discussion in the pit lane.
Wehrlein has dropped back to 6th place and Stoffel Vandoorne drives into the Top 3 in attack mode!
The yellow flag has been cancelled! Nick Cassidy meanwhile shows how powerful the new attack mode is. He goes from 10th to first place in no time at all!
The first drivers use the new attack mode, including Nick Cassidy! But now it's yellow again! Lucas Di Grassi is off the track!
GREEN FLAG! The race is open again! Rowland still leads ahead of Wehrlein and Günther!
Two incidents are being investigated. One is an incident between Mortara (P8) and Nato (P7), and the accident between Hughes and Müller.
Sebastien Buemi discusses with his team on the pit radio. Although the Swiss driver's front wing is still attached to the car, it is obviously not as securely mounted as it should be. He has not yet come into the pits.
Taylor Barnard has to change the front wing in the pit lane, but can continue.
Both Maximilian Günther and his team-mate Jean Eric Vergne were particularly aggressive in the starting phase. Dennis in particular felt the effects of this, losing tough battles to both!
The safety car gathers the field of drivers behind it! The circumstances of the accident become clear in the replay. Very curious - Hughes collides with Buemi and Müller with one of the Kiro. As a result, Müller touches Hughes and both end up in the wall.
ACCIDENT BETWEEN HUGHES AND MÜLLER! Both are in the wall, the damage is extensive.
Further back, Mitch Evans has already made up six places. The New Zealander is currently in 15th place.
Jake Dennis complains on the radio! Günther is said to be responsible for damage to his Andretti. Dennis has dropped back to 6th place.
GREEN IN SAO PAULO! The race is open and Rowland catches Wehrlein in the first corner! Günther moves up to 3rd place!
A Jaguar-powered vehicle was hit again, as was Evans in practice and qualifying.
The reason is Robin Frijns! His car is rolled off the grid, but it is not known exactly why.
The start of the race is delayed, the reason is not yet known. All drivers are ready in their starting boxes.
The cars are now rolling into their starting positions. The first start with the Gen3 Evo's new all-wheel drive system awaits us! Will Wehrlein be able to defend pole?
The opening race will start in one minute!
Qualifying was particularly disappointing for Jaguar. Mitch Evans started last and a really unhappy Nick Cassidy started from 10th place.
The pole-sitter has never finished on the podium in Sao Paulo. Vandoorne only finished sixth in season 9 and Pascal Wehrlein only fourth last season!
Welcome back to the live ticker! Not long now until the first E-Prix of the new season begins! It starts in 10 minutes!
