For newly crowned Formula E world champion Oliver Rowland, a good final race could have been the icing on the cake of his dominant season. Especially as there were still two titles at stake for the Brit's Nissan team at his home race. However, contact with Andretti driver Nico Müller in the second London race led to an abrupt end. Rowland had allegedly not seen the Swiss and the two collided.
Rowland had qualified in tenth position and got off to a good start. He fought his way forwards right at the start and was already in the top three on lap 5.
However, this was followed by a duel with Andretti's Nico Müller, who had also fought his way forwards from 14th on the grid. But this duel did not last long. Contact on lap 16 meant the premature end of the race for both drivers and the deployment of the safety car.
"We obviously braked for turn 1," explained Rowland in the post-race press conference. "He pushed me to the inside under braking. I locked up, got too far to the inside and when I tried to get back on track, he took my line."
Müller: "He hit me at a 90-degree angle"
The contact with Rowland caused Müller's Andretti car to switch off, the Swiss explains in an interview with ServusTV: "He overshot turn 1, wanted to get back on the track somehow and hit me more or less at a 90-degree angle."

"And then (...) the car turned off," Müller continued. "Actually, everything looked fine, but I am assuming that it (the car) suffered some damage due to the contact and the angle of the contact. That ended our race."
Rowland did not see Müller
According to Rowland's description, he did not see the Andretti car as he tried to get back onto the track. He had no chance to react. The accident was subsequently noted and investigated after the season finale.
The result: Rowland will have to start three places further back in the next race, i.e. at the season opener in Sao Paulo on 6 December 2025 (all penalties of the race weekend at a glance).
Müller nevertheless describes the situation as frustrating: "It's clear that we're all fighting hard in the last race. But it's still frustrating (...) because I think we had a very, very good race up until then."
The two drivers have plenty of time to recover from the disappointing race: the eleventh Formula E season is now over and testing for season 12 is not scheduled until the end of October.
