Formula E heads into the final race weekend of its 12th season this weekend with the London E-Prix. Find out what else is going on in the paddock at the circuit in the latest instalment of our series ‘Paddock Whispers’. We’ll be updating this live feed regularly throughout the weekend.

>>> Joel Eriksson himself surprised by his departure from Envision

[08/15 | 01:35 pm] Envision Racing announced on Friday that it will part ways with its drivers Joel Eriksson and Sebastien Buemi at the end of the season. Eriksson’s departure in particular came as a major surprise to many, as the Swede had enjoyed a good season so far. Eriksson achieved his best result for the team this season with a third-place finish in Shanghai. When asked by e-Formula.news, the Swedish racing driver said he had been taken by surprise by his team’s decision.

“It came a little bit as a surprise, definitely. My goal and plan was always to stay with the team. It became like a shock, to be honest. But yeah, there is not much we can do about it, I guess. More than just trying to find something else for next year. There is nothing decided yet, to be honest, so I can't really say too much at this stage. But all I can say is that I'm going to try my best to stay within the paddock.”

[08/15 | 01:20pm] Lola-Yamaha-ABT driver and Formula E veteran Lucas di Grassi is bringing his active racing career to a close after this race weekend in London. To celebrate this, he has worked with04is team to develop a very special design for his car and helmet. The bodywork of his car features the colours of all the cars di Grassi has driven during his career. The helmet of the Season 3 champion features all the podium finishes the 42-year-old has achieved during his Formula E career.

Di Grassi’s team-mate Zane Maloney, on the other hand, will be racing in the standard livery this weekend.

[08/15 | 10:32am] The Mahindra Racing Team and Mahindra Advanced Design Europe have jointly developed a design for the Formula E cars of the future. For the fourth generation of cars, the Indian team wants to emphasise its Indian heritage and race in the colours of the Indian flag.

>>> Envision Racing announces title partner for Gen4

[08/15 | 10:04am] The British team Envision Racing announced its future title partner for Season 12 on Friday morning. With the launch of Gen4, Envision has partnered with the payment platform Paysafe. As part of this partnership, Paysafe and Envision Racing aim to develop a joint strategy for fan-focused innovations, including esports tournaments, sim-racing competitions, exclusive VIP racing experiences, gaming promotions, the integration of digital wallets and rewards programmes. The aim is to turn spectators into participants.

To mark the launch of the partnership, several promotions are set to take place during the London E-Prix on 15 and 16 August, with further promotions planned throughout the 13th season. The unveiling of the new car livery is scheduled for October.

>>> Formula E teams up with giffgaff in London

[08/14 | 05:40 pm] Formula E has announced a partnership for London with the mobile network operator giffgaff – which is also B Corp-certified – and its partner ‘Big Issues’. Together, giffgaff and Big Issues are distributing refurbished mobile phones to the public. During race week in London, Formula E, in collaboration with giffgaff, is inviting selected participants to a welcome event at the race track, followed by a behind-the-scenes tour of Formula E.

Race-goers can also learn more about the circular economy of mobile phones at a stand in the Fan Village and have their own mobile phones checked. Furthermore, Formula E has pledged 25,000 euros from the Better Future Fund to giffgaff’s long-standing partner “Big Issues”. The financial contribution is intended to help young people acquire the tools, skills and self-confidence needed to get closer to finding work. Each participant will receive a refurbished smartphone offering better connectivity, as well as exclusive insights into the world of work and valuable work experience on race days.

>>> AJ Tracey to perform during the London E-Prix

[08/14 | 05:05 pm] British rapper AJ Tracey is set to perform live at the London E-Prix. The West London-born artist will take to the stage in the Fan Village on Sunday 16 August from 1.00 pm to 1.50 pm local time. A performance is also planned as part of Sunday’s grid formation.

“Nothing compares to the energy you feel when performing in my home city of London,” says Tracey of his Formula E performance. “This is going to be something really special. I’m looking forward to bringing that energy to Formula E,” the artist continues.

>>> Jake Hughes has got married

[08/14 | 04:37 pm] Mahindra reserve driver Jake Hughes has announced his wedding to his partner Abby on social media. The couple’s civil wedding took place a week before the final Formula E showdown in London. The big wedding reception is scheduled to take place in a few weeks’ time.

>>> Special DS livery for their farewell

[08/14 | 4:20 pm] The DS Penske team will be taking to the grid in a special livery for this Formula E season finale. >>> Formula E: Electric Lap Livery Design Winner

[08/14 | 1:00 pm] The developer of the Formula E video game ‘Formula E: Electric Lap’, Feenix, organised a design competition in which fans could design a special livery for the Formula E cars. The winner of the competition has now been announced. The design created by the winner, Beth, will be included into the video game and will additionally be showcased on a real Formula E car at the racetrack in the English capital. The video game can also be tested out in London.

>>> O’Sullivan & Günther completed the Envision Gen4 test

[08/14 | 11:40 am] According to FE Notebook reports, Zak O’Sullivan and Maximilian Günther took part in a Jaguar test at Estoril, Portugal, last week. The test is said to have taken place for the Jaguar customer team Envision Racing. Rumour has it that Günther is set to move from DS Penske to Envision next season. The German had received special permission from his current team to take part in the test. O’Sullivan is currently a development driver for the British team.

Stoffel Vandoorne and Antonio Felix da Costa were also on site for Jaguar. Lola and Stellantis also carried out test drives at Estoril.

>>> Sennheiser to become Formula E’s new audio specialist

[08/14 | 10:45am ] Formula E and Sennheiser have announced a multi-year partnership for the 13th season. As part of this collaboration, the all-electric world championship will integrate Sennheiser’s audio solutions and its AMBEO immersive audio technologyinto the racing series. The aim is to define the sound of the fourth-generation cars and bring them closer to audiences at home.

Andreas Sennheiser, CEO of the Sennheiser Group, describes the ambitions behind the collaboration as follows: ‘We are driven by the ambition to bring advanced audio technologies into real-world applications, and this collaboration gives us an exciting opportunity to rethink the role sound can play in electric racing. Great visuals deserve equally compelling sound, and we see real potential to define the sport's unique acoustic character through dynamic in-car and trackside soundscapes. Ultimately, this partnership is about learning, exploring and helping to shape the future of how live sport is experienced.”

>>> Jaguar sets two Guinness World Records

[08/14 | 10:20am ] Jaguar TCS Racing has kicked off the London race week with a major announcement. The British team revealed that it had broken several Guinness World Records.

The first record is for the largest GPS drawing ever created on foot: over a 100-kilometre route through the streets of London, the participants traced the outline of the Jaguar Formula electric racing cars. A total of 29 team members from Jaguar TCS Racing and Tata Consultancy Services completed the route, which started and finished at TCS’s London headquarters. Each runner carried a GPS device, which was passed between the participants. The requirements for the world record were that the artwork had to be recognisable, the route had to be mapped in its entirety, time-stamped GPS files had to be provided, and the participants had to be fully traceable.

The second record successfully set by the team led by team principal Ian James is for the ‘most participants in a racing simulator video game relay race’. The team managed more than 100 handover changes.

>>> Disney+ to become new streaming partner for Gen4

[08/14 | 09:35 am] Formula E is set to have a new global streaming partner for the coming season. Formula E and the streaming service Disney+ have signed a multi-year contract. The new offering is intended to complement the existing coverage on free-to-air and pay-TV.

>>> Porsche celebrates the end of the season with a special ‘75 Years of Porsche Motorsport’ livery

[08/14 | 09:00 am] Porsche’s German works team is heading into the final race weekend of the 12th season with a special livery. To mark the end of the Formula E season in the anniversary year ‘75 Years of Porsche Motorsport’ the two Porsche 99X Electric cars driven by Pascal Wehrlein and Nico Müller will feature a white-and-blue retro design reminiscent of successful Porsche racing cars from the 1980s. This marks the Formula E team’s third special livery of the season.

>>> De Vries causes confusion with statement on Porsche’s plans

[08/14 | 08:20am] Mahindra driver Nyck de Vries claimed during a virtual media session organised by Formula E that Porsche is, after all, not planning a second works team for the coming season. "Porsche will not have a second works team"’, said the Tokyo race winner. When it was pointed out that the manufacturer had announced exactly that in November 2025, he replied: "No, no, not anymore."

De Vries did not cite any source or evidence to support his statement. The claim contradicts the officially communicated position: Porsche is still planning to field a second works team alongside its existing one for the Gen4 era. Formula E also told Grande Premio that it had not been informed of any change. There is no reliable evidence to suggest that the project has been cancelled.
