Felipe Drugovich is set to become Jake Dennis' new team-mate at the Andretti Formula E Team in the 2025-26 Formula E season. After several years as a reserve driver with the Aston Martin Formula 1 Team, the Brazilian appears to have finally buried his hopes of a Formula 1 cockpit and is switching to the electric series. Nico Müller, on the other hand, is expected to leave the team and move to the Porsche works team.

Drugovich made his Formula E debut last season at the Berlin E-Prix. At that time, he replaced regular driver Nyck de Vries at Mahindra. The latter was in Brazil, as the World Endurance Championship (WEC) was racing in Sao Paulo on the same weekend. The 25-year-old impressed during his stint in Berlin: he finished Sunday's race in a strong seventh place, scoring six championship points.

This performance also seems to have made an impression on Andretti. The team was already looking for a replacement for Nico Müller, who is set to become Pascal Wehrlein's new team-mate next season following the expected departure of Antonio Felix da Costa from Porsche.

As our colleagues at The Race have now learnt, talks with Drugovich began last August. These were recently intensified, which has now probably led to a mutual agreement for a commitment in season 12 and possibly beyond. The Brazilian will therefore be team-mate to Jake Dennis, who was confirmed by Andretti for the 2025-26 season a few weeks ago.

First full racing season since Formula 2 title

For the 2022 Formula 2 champion, this would be his first full racing season since winning the championship in the highest FIA junior category in formula racing. Since then, he has only raced sporadically in the ELMS and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Until the end, the Aston Martin reserve driver repeatedly hoped for possible racing commitments in Formula 1, but it was only enough for training and test commitments.

While Jake Dennis was already able to test again last week in the Gen3 Evo car, Drugovich will probably be able to gain his first experience with the Porsche powertrain at the pre-season tests in Valencia from 27 to 30 October. An official announcement from the team is still pending, but could be made this week according to The Race.
